When it comes to building a dividend stock portfolio, some of the best advice available is completely free — and comes from average investors with a wealth of experience. Some of the most insightful guides to building wealth through dividend stock investing come not from financial advisors or other professionals, but average investors with remarkable discipline and conviction.
There are several bloggers dedicated to sharing their paths to dividend wealth with an online audience, providing their detailed stock research and investment methodologies in the process. Below are 10 sites that are valuable sources for general investing strategy and investment ideas. Many of them share their personal portfolios with their readers, and offer up detailed explanations for each position. The following list is presented in alphabetical order.
Dhierin Bechai
Dhierin Bechai blogs as the Aviation Investor, combining two of his primary interests. (He is studying aerospace engineering, a field of study he seems to have in common with many other dividend investors.) He’s recently written detailed analyses of both Boeing (BA) and Airbus (AIR), two interesting pieces to read considering his background as an aerospace engineering student.
Dhierin covers more than just the aviation industry, focusing on the dividend stocks that make up his portfolio and giving extensive write-ups on his attraction to each stock.

Bert and Lanny, the Dividend Diplomats
Bert and Lanny, the Dividend Diplomats, are two twenty-somethings who have been chronicling their paths to financial freedom on their blog for several years. Combining a dividend growth investing strategy with a frugal approach to personal finances, they’ve documented an approach to wealth accumulation that can be replicated by almost anyone. Their dedication to a long-term wealth accumulation plan is inspiring, and the rationales behind their individual allocations are always insightful.
From an investing perspective, the Diplomats have a relatively straightforward initial screen to help them identify potential portfolio components. Stocks must have:
- P/E less than the S&P 500;
- Payout ratio of less than 60 percent; and
- Increasing dividends.
Both authors update their portfolios regularly, and keep detailed statistics on their dividends received. They also write updates on positions they’re opening, closing, or just watching closely.

Dividend Earner
The Dividend Earner blog is run by a husband and father from the Vancouver area who works a normal job and has taken control of his portfolio. After years of mediocre performance, he fired his financial advisor and embraced dividend stocks as a path toward long-term wealth.
This site offers readers access to the full portfolio, as well as month-by-month dividend records. In addition to regular commentary on individual stocks, this site also features a wealth of high quality evergreen education content on topics such as asset allocation and general rules of dividend investing.
Jason Fieber
Jason Fieber has an incredibly inspirational story beyond his financial success, having reinvented himself in his late 20s after an extremely challenging childhood. Through a combination of hard work, frugal living, and sound dividend investing strategies, Jason has accumulated a meaningful nest egg in a relatively short period of time.
Jason discloses his whole portfolio to his readers — he maintains an impressively diversified basket of more than 50 stocks — and carefully tracks the dividend income he earns each year. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by assuming financial responsibility, Jason’s insights are an excellent first step.
Frank the Dividend Engineer
Frank is an engineer by trade who in 2012 launched his Dividend Engineering blog. Since then, he’s been regularly publishing extremely handy dividend “fact sheets” that provide just about everything you need to know about a company and its dividend history. These write-ups are extremely useful for getting up to speed on a particular stock. The site currently includes dozens of fact sheets, including blue chip stocks, smaller names, and even some international companies.
In addition to the fact sheets, Frank details many of the investments he is personally making throughout the year. He includes detailed explanations for his purchases, as well as reasoning behind not purchasing stocks that he had planned on buying.
Mike the Dividend Guy
Mike the Dividend Guy is a French Canadian who has experienced big wins and big losses as a stock trader and who has been following the markets actively for more than a decade. He’s now adopted a dividend growth methodology that is rather unique: splitting the portfolio into core and growth sections with very different objectives.
Guided by seven principles, Mike writes regularly on stocks he is considering for his more active growth portfolio and thoughts on the markets in general. Mike also publishes every detail about his personal growth portfolio. He also has a newsletter with more than 6,000 subs to whom he regularly sends statistical analyses and other thoughts.
Keith Park
Keith Park is a Web entrepreneur who has launched several sites over the years. More recently, he is a dividend investing advocate, having embraced dividend paying stocks as a way to generate additional revenue streams in 2007.
Keith publishes his complete portfolio monthly, and keeps a running tab of the dividend income he receives each year. He also shares his dividend watchlist, where he identifies the stocks that he’s considering for inclusion in his own portfolio. In addition to his monthly updates, Keith provides an analysis of any additions or deletions from his portfolio and general investing wisdom.

Cory Renauer
Cory Renauer is a financial analyst and writer with a rather lofty goal — to build the world’s greatest dividend portfolio. Cory’s methodology for doing so involves seeking out companies that are well managed, have predictable earnings, and maintain meaningful economic advantages over their competitors. Starting with companies that have at least a five-year history of dividend raises, his “moaty chowder” approach then considers a number of other factors.
Cory regularly publishes his assessments of individual stocks, reviewing competitive advantages, dividend sustainability, and profitability (among other factors).
Robert the Dividend Dreamer
Robert is a dividend investor with a unique background; he has degrees in biology and chemistry and a master’s degree in physiology, and has worked for himself in a number of different businesses along the way. Now one of his hobbies includes writing about his dividend portfolio and investing strategy, including a detailed accounting of the distributions he receives from his portfolio.
Robert posts throughout the day with updates on his trading activities or sometimes just a random thought, always closing with the same piece of advice: keep cranking.
Jason Shimshi
Jason is a married father of three with a day job as an engineer. In his spare time, Jason publishes Harvesting Dividends, which focuses on lesser-known companies with a history of raising dividends.
Several times a week Jason publishes in-depth write-ups of dividend stocks, diving into the operations and products of the company and its dividend history. He also includes information about any dividend reinvestment plans that are available, a useful tidbit for those focused on returning any proceeds to their portfolio.
This site also contains a list of the current Dividend Aristocrats, along with a detailed analysis of each. Users can also sign up for a free newsletter.
